Manage Your Stress
So as many of you reading this will already know, we have 3 exams over the next week or so. We have one on 9/29, 10/1, and 10/6. It has been stressful to say the least to try to prepare for these exams. To my fellow students, assure you are managing your stress appropriately. Here are some tips:
- Remember we are all in this together, and your professors are there to help.
- Do your best to keep a positive attitude.
- Practice acceptance, and accept that the timing of the exams is out of your control
- Try exercising to work off the stress and give yourself a break from studying.
- Set limits for yourself. Make sure your limits are reasonable, and still give yourself time to study.
- Set goals for yourself, but make sure they are attainable.
- Try to get enough sleep.
- Seek out help from friends.
- Stay away from drugs and alcohol.
Most importantly, operate under my motto. "Embrace the suck." It may suck right now, but you will be so strong and so glad when we are all through this week together. Support your fellow students. Have a good week, and good luck on exams!
Hi Mike,
ReplyDeleteI wish I would've read these tips before the exam, but I am glad I am reading them now. I was stressed trying to manage by time and keep a positive attitude. I love your motto "embrace the suck" because like you said if we can just get through all of the exams and obstacles over the next few weeks and years, the outcome will be worth it. I hope your tips worked for you and you did well on the exams!
Hey Mike, I loved this post! I have been feeling super stressed out lately and reading this just gave me the little reassurance and strength that I needed. Being able to manage stress is a really important aspect for a nursing student. I already follow some of these tips, but I can't wait to try out new ones. I also really love your motto. I found myself always wanting to quit and give up, but I know in the end all of this will be worth it. I hope you have a great rest of your semester and keep up the positivity!
ReplyDeleteHi Mike! Your tips are great and I will utilize them for the next exams that we have! After reading your blog, I feel a little bit more relaxed because we are all going though this together. There are many trial and tribulations throughout nursing school, but it feels better to know that at least we have each other. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHi, Mike! I can easily say that this time period that you were referring to was most definitely the most stressed out I've been in all of nursing school. Any minute that I'd take to relax or take a break, I felt guilty and told myself I should be studying instead. Your tips are very helpful and I plan to keep that in mind for the second round of exams we have coming up. I also really liked your motto, "embrace the suck", because even though right now, things may seem really hard and stressful, once we are holding our degrees it will all be more than worth it. Good luck to you with the remainder of our semester!
ReplyDeleteHey Mike, these tips and tricks were extremely helpful when dealing with the stressful time of 3 back to back exams. Your point about the importance of sleep really helped me out. I normally only get about 5-6 hours of sleep a night but after reading this post I went to bed earlier. I found that I was able to remember more material than before. Thanks for the the tip and good luck!
